We did GOOD this week!!

Have you seen happier OLD Folks? At the end of No Kings 3 in Springfield yesterday, we looked at each other, relieved, and said “We did good today!” Craig is amazing at making posters and everything else that needs to be done. It was sunny and breezy. We had about 200 people at peak. The same as October No Kings 2 but this was a much different event. A lot more people involved in the planning and execution so hopefully others will be lead our next big protest. We did not have a permit from the city which meant we were not to have a sound system. So we improvised and made the back of our pickup the stage and Craig used the power generator we had gotten to power the lights on the Christmas float to power the sound system. We projected the sound towards the Courthouse rather than out to the street and it worked great.

No Kings 2 did not have any speakers. I had lined up 7 for No Kings 3 (young, mature, old, black, brown, white). After the audience saw ordinary people from their community standing up to speak, we doubled that number. The community truly spoke from their hearts with passion. One of our Democratic Gubernatorial Candidates, Jerri Green spoke at the end. By the time all of the talks were over, the group shrank to what could fit in the sunlight still left around the courthouse. There was some rousing chanting and we got a photo of those left at the end.

At the end of my very short Welcome and Be Safe talk, I told the crowd I would be launching a campaign for TN House District 66 and there was a GREAT response, even though most of the people had no idea who I was. I said, “with your help getting people out to vote, I AM IN IT TO WIN IT. Campaign photo this coming week and hopefully finalize my logo and get my Bavendam4RobCo.com website populated enough for my campaign launch next week. My campaign announcement is nearly finished.

On the personal front, Baby B made their presence known to Mama B on Friday – she felt the “flutters” for the first time. She looks like a beaming mother-to-be should. We celebrated Natalie’s birthday this week as James was recovering from the flu on her Bday. A couple of weeks ago, I was “drawn” into a store in downtown Springfield one evening. When I saw the Care Bear, I knew why I had come in.
